Random Love
I forgot how much I love to read these.. Who needs online dating when you can strike up a relationship on public transport?

Moments I'll Never Forget #1
There are some moments that stick with us forever. Some downright bland, some painful, and some happy. Fortunately rose coloured glasses mean that the happy ones tend to stick more readily.
I'll try to list them out here, but in no particular order. The first one just happens to be the most recent.
A few months ago I asked my parents to join me in the Melbourne Marathon. Not the full 42km - I'm not trying to kill them off (or myself) just yet. I've done a couple of runs over the last few years, ranging between 10 and 21km. After some coaxing they both agreed to sign up for the 10.
A few months training slips by and my mum pulls out with an injury, but my dad was still up for it. Life was pretty hectic in the week leading up and I barely had time to realise how much I was looking forward to it.
Come the day itself and after two hours sleep (a whole other story), dad rocks up at 6am for brekky. Toast and espresso down the hatch and we were off.
The race itself was uneventful - a few thousand people in an apparent hurry to go nowhere in particular. I'd seen it all before, so I probably took the excitement for granted.
I remember running with my dad once as an annoying 7 year old when he had some burst of fitness, but never again since then. To my delight this day I discovered that he was a chatty runner just like me, and that we both had the same comfortable pace. We overtook other runners easily enough - some initiated by me, others not.
Moments after we finished a young lady approached us to say that we were her pace setters - apparently she nearly lost sight of us a few times along the way, but each time she'd managed to catch up. I use pace setters regularly and maybe I've been one for someone else before and never knew. I made a mental note at the time to introduce myself next time I pick a pace setter too.
Our finish time was pretty respectable - 57 mins. At the end we picked up the stock standard finishers medals and got our pic taken. Check out the glowing smile!

So it begins
I have to start somewhere, and I guess this pic is a good indication of what's motivated me to start this blog in the first place.
Shane and I were making our way through the bush when I spotted this toadstool on the side of the track. The only red thing for miles around, and it made my day :-)
